Baggy Point

A lot of people tell us, they didn’t know we were here or that they wish they’d found us earlier on in their holiday. We’re on the coastal path heading towards Baggy Point!

Baggy Point is a great destination, there’s parking right next door to us at the National Trust Carpark, which is free for National Trust members and if not we think one of the cheaper places to park in Croyde!

You can take a short easy walk out to the tip of Baggy Point and back again, taking in spectacular views of the coastline towards Lundy Island, Bideford Bay, Hartland Point and the beaches of Croyde, Putsborough and Woolacombe in the distance. Children love the whale bones and the old wreck post, as well as the rocks and cliffs.

In spring, it’s a great place to walk when seabirds nest on the cliff among the clumps of pink thrift and spotted white sea campion and the gorse bushes are ablaze. In autumn the migrant birds gathering ready for their journey south sometimes attract the attention of a predatory merlin or peregrine, sometimes even a hen harrier. In winter wrap up warm as it’s a great place to watch the spectacular skies, waves and if you’re lucky you will see Porpoise leaping out of the water.

We are proud to be a South West Coastal Path Way Maker Coast Path Passport Stamping Point, so we hope that the approximate 70,000 yearly visitors to Baggy Point manage to find us over the winter and into 2023!

Blow away the cobwebs and enjoy all that nature at has to offer along the North Devon coast towards Baggy Point and then join us on your return, at Cafe Croyde Bay. We’re open all year no matter what the weather’s doing outside. You will find a warm welcome waiting for you and your four legged friends, delicious food and a range of drinks both hot and cold, plus an amazing sea view too!
